Cherwell District Council have relocated to a smaller, more modern and energy efficient premises, and flex7 lighting connection and control products have been installed throughout.

The new headquarters have been awarded an A rating on their Energy Performance Certificates.

There are 2 meeting rooms, with a folding partition which can be pulled back to create 1 single room. A solution was needed that would allow the luminaires to be controlled as 2 separate groups when the partition is in place, or as a single group of lights when the partition is removed. Flex7 ZoneLite Type G offers just this functionality, allowing the user to easily switch between the 2 setups as required.

A 2nd Switch Relay Distribution Box was used in the Council Chamber, which provided the facility to switch audio visual wall lighting separately to other lights in the room. This functionality is incredibly useful for drawing focus to the audio visual wall, without having to turn all lights in the room off. DALI manual dimming of all luminaires was also enabled from each chamber entry point.

Flex7 Lighting Controls with presence detection were installed in WCs and corridors to ensure lights turn on whenever these areas are occupied but turn off again automatically when they are vacant. Each WC block and connecting lobby was networked for occupancy.

Open plan offices were configured for presence detection, with daylight linking sensors along window rows so that lights will dim down in response to natural light levels. Whenever there’s sufficient sunlight, lights on window rows will dim in response. To ensure users are always working in optimum conditions as soon as ambient light dims below a certain preset level (eg. The sun goes in) lights will return to full brightness.

In individual offices absence detection has been enabled, which means the user can decide if lights need to be turned on, but they will still turn off automatically once the room is vacated, ensuring maximum energy saving.
